Video Interview: Mindstorm Labs on Their Alpha Omega RPG
I don’t do as much RPG coverage as I’d like on the Alpha, but one game in particular really caught my eye at Gen Con. A company I wasn’t familiar with called Mindstorm Labs was selling a post-apocalyptic RPG called Alpha Omega that boasted some of the most impressive art and design I’ve ever seen. Almost every glossy page had some amazing glimpse into a dystopian future, including many splash page images that just blew me away.
I immediately asked for an interview, and Earl Fischl was nice enough to walk me through the high points of the game. I’m a sucker for the whole cyberpunk/dark future genre any way, and if you throw in some magic and monsters you’re really speaking my language. Regrettably, I didn’t get a chance for a demo, but I’m intrigued by the game’s polyhedral dice pool mechanic and interesting world background, and I’m going to see what I can do to bring you more information on this game.
From what Earl told me Alpha Omega sold extremely well, and by the end of the con they were down to just a few display copies and were talking orders to be shipped after the show. I saw how many books they brought, and selling them all was no small accomplishment. Congrats to the Mindstorm team.
Head over to the Mindstorm Labs website for more information and a look at their amazing art. The glossy pages didn’t show up on camera very well at all.
