Video Interview: Kai Nesbit of Cipher Studios
I thought I was nervous shooting these interviews until I met Kai Nesbit, who initially looked like a man keeping an appointment to be shot with a howitzer instead of a video camera. Robert Kingery of Darkson Designs was nice enough to set up the interview for me, but I think maybe he did so without telling either me or Kai until just before M-minute.
I was pleasantly surprised, as I’ve long admired the beautiful minis of Anima Tactics, but I think Kai essentially got dragooned into doing the interview. Rob is not a someone it’s easy to refuse, so the man from Cipher dutifully showed up to take his medicine.
Rob had everyone’s best interests at heart, though. He stayed to help calm Kai down a bit, having already helped me through my own jitters. Once we got through the initial awkwardness and the camera started rolling things went just fine. Once he began warming to his subject, Kai was a great interview, full of interesting background on how Anima Tactics came to be. He even explained the intricate web of inter-relations between the various companies that produce products under the “Anima” umbrella. I was amazed at the sheer amount of behind-the-scenes work has gone into setting up and coordinating the multinational partnerships involved.
Even on relatively brief acquaintance, it was obvious that Kai is passionate about making Anima all it can possibly be. With a leader this dedicated and organizationally gifted, I expect great things from Cipher in the near future. Unless those butterflies in his stomach get him first. Just kidding, Kai. You did great, just like Rob said you would.
Unfortunately, the audio is a bit on the soft side, so you’ll most likely have to turn the volume up to hear it properly. Sorry about that. Next year, better video gear, I promise.

For my first interview on camera..ever.. it doesn’t look as nerve-wracking as it felt
. I linked it at our website Cipher-studios.com also. I look forward to next year and I’ll keep you informed on the goings on of Anima and Cipher Studios. We’re working on being less cryptic with news and have some really exciting in the pipe.
Thanks for the link, Kai. See, I told you it would turn out fine and it did. I think you came through like a champ! Thanks for taking the time to do the interview.
